Hi Guys, my name is Stephanie Reed and I am running for the position of Welfare Campaign Officer.
As a final year student here at Bucks New University, I feel I have acquired the correct experience and knowledge throughout my first two years and have a strong understanding of the challenges that students may face, whether that be the ongoing debate about the price of higher education or the need for extra support with study.
As welfare officer, I endeavour to be able to represent the students and bridge the lines of communication to encourage more individuals to voice their concerns and worries. These may include housing, health or personal issues which I will strive to ensure that all students are given enough of the correct support and advice available to them, making it accessible on all levels. I recognise that welfare is not only a priority to students and the Students' Union, but should also be at the forefront of the universities plans.
In the role of welfare officer, no issue is too small and I will make sure I voice the opinions of every student to the university or the relevant external body. In addition, I plan to support union campaigns along side Sabbatical officers and fellow students to ensure awareness of key welfare issues both locally and nationally.
Here at Bucks, we have students of differing ages, backgrounds and cultures, which I feel makes the role an exciting one to take on. My communication skills are my strongest asset which I plan to fully utilise within the role, making sure that every student does not only feel like they belong at Bucks, but also that they feel protected and valued by their Students' Union.
